Flower goldfish - beauty in a pot

Goldfish plants have hundreds of small, thick, shiny, dark green leaves and vibrant flowers that resemble tiny goldfish. Flowers can be red, orange, or yellow. It is easy to care for, resistant to hot climates and, with proper care, blooms all year round.

Taking care of Nematantus

The goldfish plant requires bright indirect light, especially if you want it to bloom consistently.

A few rules:

1. Water. Allow topsoil to dry before watering. Green leaves fall off when the plant is too wet or too dry.
2. Fertilizer. Fertilize your goldfish every two weeks in the spring and summer, when it is actively growing, with balanced food diluted to the recommended concentration. Feed monthly in fall and winter.
3. Temperature mode. The intense heat burns the leaves. Try to keep goldfish away from drafts and heaters.
4. Humidity. These plants prefer high humidity but adapt well to the basic humidity in the home.
5. Blooming. Keeping the goldfish in a small pot and in a very bright spot encourages flowering.
6. Pests. Aphids and mealy insects are the main problem. It is difficult to get rid of these pests if they have infected a goldfish plant because the plants have numerous small leaves that the pests love to hide in.
7. Diseases. Botrytis, leaf spot and some plant viruses can develop in high humidity.
8. Add peat. Goldfish plants prefer a rich potted environment.
9. Cropping. Prune well to keep the goldfish plump and blooming. These plants look better and flower more if you keep the stems at a height of 30 to 45 cm.
